The 4 year olds continue on our foundational learning style. Each class is filled with learning activities directed by our teachers. An added academic component of letters, phonetic awareness along with math concepts and numbers. After completion of this program children are fully prepared for kindergarten.

• Language and literacy skills to help prepare children learn to read and to write by learning letter recognition and recognition of their names.
• Children will learn a sense of responsibility for themselves and for others through free play and activities with gentle oversight.
• The beginning of mathematics is an understanding of numbers, patterns, shapes and sizes.
• Scientific thinking involves exploring the environment by investigating their world through hands on activities.
• Social studies will teach them about the world around them and to appreciate the differences in themselves and others. Social studies activities will teach children about different cultures, family roles and civic pride through the pledge of allegiance.
• The arts include children’s participation in music, fine arts, dance and drama. They are also exposed to and participate in art on a daily basis, we have a weekly music program and a special introduction to different genres of art through our “Art Goes to School Program.”
• Gross motor and fine motor skills will be developed throughout the day in all activites.
• We have monthly chapel lessons and the goal of these lessons is to develop an understanding of God. Our goal is to teach basic values such as being kind and loving. We expose children to bible stories.
  
  Extended day program
  This class is designed to prepare children for a longer school day and increase their independence. This class is Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30-1:30. For the first few days of the extended program we will learn through play until we are better adjusted to a longer school day. Later we will Introduce Sight Words, Structured Learning Activity (math, science, social studies) Fridays are Game Days (yes, real games – they will be in groups of four and rotate between two games and the listening center – real learning).
